The visit is his fourth abroad since his election victory in May

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has arrived in Kenya on Friday following an official invitation from his counterpart Uhuru Kenyatta, according to state media.

In a Twitter post, Somalia’s presidential palace commonly known as Villa Somalia said the two leaders “will hold bilateral talks that will focus on strengthening the strategic cooperation and historical relations between Somalia and Kenya.”

Somalia state-run media Radio Muqdisho reported that Mohamud will discuss with Kenyatta bilateral cooperation on issues of “climate change, droughts, security, and economy.”

Peter Munya, the Cabinet Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Agriculture, received the Somali leader at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

The visit is Mohamud’s fourth abroad since he was elected in May, with the previous visits being to the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Eritrea respectively.
