The Kenyan Air Force conducted airstrikes in several areas in Gedo region on Friday night. The airstrikes targeted areas around Elwak town, where Kenyan military forces have established a military base.

Reports indicate that the airstrikes hit the villages of Khadijo Haji and Fafah-dun, both located in the Elwak district of Gedo. Al Shabaab fighters operate in the region, and Kenyan forces have been conducting airstrikes in an effort to harm them. However, the airstrikes have mostly resulted in civilian casualties.

The full extent of casualties and damage from the airstrikes in Elwak is still unknown, but it is believed to have caused loss of life and property to the local population who bears the brunt of this conflict.

There is no official statement from the Kenyan government or the Gedo regional administration regarding this military operation yet.
