Military court executes three men over Al-Shabaab ties

Somalia’s Mogadishu-based military court on Wednesday executed three men by firing squad after it ruled that they were guilty of belonging to Al-Shabaab and of carrying our bombings and assassinations.
Two of the executed men namely Mohammed Abdulle Abkow Omar (Biyamalow) and Sharif Mohamed Barkhadle Ayanle (Jeego) were former soldiers in the Somali army, while the third was a senior member of Al-Shabaab who posed as a doctor while executing attacks on behalf of the group.
This is the second time this week that the military court in Mogadishu executes convicts over bombings, murder and being members of Al-Shabaab terror group.
On Monday, the court executed two former members of the Somali Police Force by a firing squad after being convicted of murder.
Capital punishment is employed in Somalia for murder charges.
