The Somali government said its forces killed 43 Al-Shabaab members and injured several others on Monday after conducting an operation in the Galgaduud region of central Somalia.

The operation was planned and carried out by the Somali National Army (SNA) at the Hin-tubal and El Ali Weyd locations in the Galgaduud region.

In the statement released by the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism on Monday, the SNA forces also destroyed three battlewagon vehicles belonging to the militant group during the operation.

“On the other hand, a large-scale operation is underway today (Monday) in the Galgaduud region, which has cleared many areas held by the group in the Elbur district,” the statement added.

The president was stationed in the capital of Galmudug, Dhuusamareeb, for a whole month in an effort to mobilize the army and the local militia forces to fight Al shabaab. He is now in the strategic district of Mahas within HirShabelle state to further enhance the mobilization process.
