Somali army kills Al-Shabaab finance chief in Bay region
Al-Shabaab extorts substantial sums of money from locals to fund their terrorist operations.

The Somali National Army (SNA) early Wednesday killed Adan Gardhuub, the financial chief of the Al-Shabaab group, in a carefully planned operation near Adegow-Garar, a town in the Bay region.
The operation also resulted in the elimination of several of Gardhuub’s bodyguards.
It targeted various areas in the Bay region, encompassing Adegow-Garar, Warta Dollar, Weley Bagal, and Ey-Duraay villages.
These villages are known to be utilized by Al-Shabaab for fundraising from locals to finance their operations.
