Somalia’s armed forces command on Saturday released the names of senior Al-Shabaab leaders killed in recent battles in the Middle Shabelle region, detailing the group’s losses in ongoing military operations.

According to a statement from the command, five key figures within Al-Shabaab were killed during clashes involving government forces and allied local fighters.

Among them was Hasan Abdiwahid Abdi Dhicisow, also known as Hasan Gurey or Bagaah, who oversaw the group’s operations across Galgaduud, Mudug, and Middle Shabelle. He was killed in fighting in Ceel Cali Axmed.

Also killed was Dahir Buhsade, identified as a unit commander, and Anas, who led the group’s transport operations.

Other key figures slain in the clashes included Khalid Jiis, a military unit commander, and Assam, who led an expeditionary force for the group.

The government said its forces, alongside local militia, have regained control of all areas where the battles took place. However, the statement did not disclose any losses or casualty figures for government and allied local militia forces.

The announcement comes a day after the federal government stated that 130 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in battles across Middle Shabelle.
