Six Hormuud Telecom employees lost their lives on Sunday afternoon when a landmine exploded near their vehicle in the Garasbaaley area, on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

The Somali government pointed the finger at Al-Shabaab, condemning the brutal attack.

Hormuud Telecom confirmed the deaths of their employees in a statement, expressing their deepest condolences to the victims’ families.

This is not the first time Hormuud Telecom has been targeted. In recent months, the company’s employees and facilities have come under repeated attack in Mogadishu and other areas, resulting in casualties and damage. While no group has claimed responsibility for this latest attack, it follows a similar incident on March 19th where a blast destroyed a Hormuud branch in Mogadishu’s Daallo neighborhood.
