A suicide car bombing in Somalia’s Hirshabelle regional state, specifically in the Bulaburde district, resulted in the tragic deaths of at least six individuals six people, including a mother and her baby, and left more than four others injured on Thursday.

According to local residents, the car, laden with explosives, detonated during a pursuit by security forces. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle had approached from the district’s west side targeting the local market. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack.

The appalling incident occurred just hours after the military successfully prevented two attempted car bombings on the outskirts of Dhusamareb, a central town in Somalia.

Dhusamareb has served as the temporary base for President Hassan Mohamud over the past two months as he has been leading the country’s offensive against the Al-Shabaab extremist group.

Last Saturday, a devastating suicide car bomb struck a taxation and security checkpoint in Beledweyne, the capital of HirShabelle State in Somalia. The attack led to a tragic loss of life, with at least 30 individuals losing their lives, and many others sustaining severe injuries.

Government forces, alongside local militias, have recently managed to capture several areas in the central Galmudug state from Al-Shabaab. In response to these intense military offensives, Al-Shabaab has initiated a series of retaliatory attacks targeting the government, prompted by President Mohamud’s declaration of an ‘all-out war’ against the group.
