Somali forces clash with Al-Shabaab in Mudug region

Somali federal forces, supported by local Maawisley militia, engaged in clashes with Al-Shabaab fighters during an operation in Bacadweyn, Mudug region, on Wednesday.
The operation targeted Al-Shabaab positions where the group was reportedly collecting funds, according to government sources.
“A planned operation carried out by the National Army and local forces in Bacadweyn targeted Khawarij positions where they extort civilians,” a military statement said.
Government forces said they killed several Al-Shabaab fighters, though no specific figures were provided, state-owned SNTV reported. Independent verification of the casualties and the situation on the ground was not immediately available.
