The Somali National Army (SNA) and local militia forces conducted a successful joint operation in West El-lahelay village, Galmudug region, resulting in the elimination of three prominent Al-Shabaab leaders.

The Ministry of Information confirmed that the operation, executed on Wednesday night, specifically targeted Olol Ali Guled, the head of the group’s insurgent militia in Galmudug, along with Shuuke Ali Dheeg and Isse Barre, two other wanted Al-Shabaab members.

In a separate incident near El-lahelay, a tragic event occurred as an explosive device concealed by terrorists detonated in a house, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of a mother and her two children, with two others injured.

The SNA was to quick to provide medical assistance to the injured victims and transported them to Dhusamareeb for further treatment.

The government continues to prioritize its efforts in combating Al-Shabaab, aiming to drive the group out of the regions it currently controls in the south and central areas of the country. The successful elimination of these three Al-Shabaab leaders marks a significant setback for the group and is expected to weaken its operations in Galmudug.
