Somali army repels Al-Shabaab attack, kills 30 terrorists

The Somali National Army (SNA) on Tuesday repelled an Al-Shabaab attack on the central town of Masagaway killing 30 of the terrorists in the process, Somalia’s information ministry said in a written statement.
“The national army was aware of the Khawarij (Al-Shabaab) movement and courageously repelled the attackers,” the statement read.
The statement added that 30 of the attackers were killed.
Masagaway town is located in the central region of Galgadud which has witnessed massive government operations in the past months that pushed Al-Shabaab terrorist from major towns including the strategic port town of Gal’ad.
Having suffered huge losses, Al-Shabaab militants have retaliated with major attacks on newly liberated towns as well as the capital Mogadishu.
On Friday, the Al-Qaeda linked group attacked a Ugandan army base at Buulo Mareer town, in Lower Shabelle region killing an undisclosed number of Ugandan troops.
