Somalia executes 2 ex-police officers for murder

The armed forces court in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu has on Monday executed two former members of the Somali Police Force by a firing squad after being convicted of murder.

One of those excuted, Abdi Shakur Ahmed Mohamud, was found guilty of killing Hassan Mohamed Shire, while the other Abdi Jamal Abdullahi was charged with robbing and murdering Abdihakim Mohamud Khalif.

Capital punishment is employed in Somalia for murder charges.

Last week, six former soldiers were executed in Somalia’s Puntland State alongside 13 terrorists after they were charged with murder.
