Somalia Sends Condolences to Morocco Over Devastating Earthquake

The Federal Republic of Somalia has expressed its condolences to Morocco following a devastating earthquake that killed at least 820 people and injured 672 more.
The earthquake, measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale, struck late Friday night, with its epicenter located 75 kilometers west of Marrakesh, Morocco’s fourth-largest city. Its tremors were felt in neighboring countries, including Algeria, Tunisia, and Mauritania.
In an official statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation expressed “full solidarity with the government and people of the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco during this challenging period.”
The ministry also extended “heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims and missing persons.”
The earthquake caused widespread damage in Morocco, resulting in numerous building collapses and significant structural damage.
Rescue teams are actively working to find survivors and assess the full extent of the damage.
